Beautiful Colorado Springs

You have many reasons to visit us aside from participating in our portuguese traditional events, you can also plan to visit our beautiful town of Colorado Springs.

The Founder

In the middle of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado you will find an enormous statue of a man on a horse.  This man is General William J Palmer founder of Colorado Springs.  And with the view of Pikes Peak directly behind the statue you quickly understand why this man was so generous in establishing this city.

The City

Colorado Springs lies quietly at the foot of Pikes Peak.  At 14,110 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak stands tall in the midst of the majestic Rocky Mountains, which run north to south of the city.  This breath-taking mountain was the inspiration for Katherine Lee Bates' "America the Beautiful".

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods Park where hikers hike, bicyclists bike and rock climbers climb is the foreground for the big and bold Pikes Peak.  It's massive red sandstone rock formations are a creation only Mother Nature could inspire.  Atop the red rock formations is "Kissing Camels" where two rock formations come together to create the illusion of two camels kissing.

The Marian House

The Colorado Springs DES sponsors three dinners every year.  The fall dinner follows the Holy Ghost tradition of feeding the poor.  Most of the proceeds from the dinner are donated to the Marian House.  The Marian House is a local soup kitchen run by Catholic Charities of Colorado Springs where approximately 600 meals are served per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
